PCB Reviews Squad for ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025:

Squad Selection under Review:

Lahore – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Friday that the selection committee is closely evaluating the squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

“The selection committee has full authority to make changes to the Champions Trophy squad,” Naqvi stated while speaking to the media.

Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf’s Inclusion:

Naqvi also addressed the selection of Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf for both the Tri-Nation series and the upcoming Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host.

“Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf were selected with good intentions,” he emphasized.

Honoring Gaddafi Stadium Workers:

To acknowledge the tireless efforts of the laborers who worked day and night to complete the renovation and upgradation of Gaddafi Stadium in just 117 days, PCB organized a special luncheon in their honor.

Mohammad Rizwan Confident in Squad Strength:

Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Rizwan believes there is no need for squad changes.

“There have been no discussions regarding changes to the squad,” Rizwan affirmed.

He expressed confidence in the team’s selection, stating:

“The best players have been picked for this marquee tournament, and recent performances played a major role in squad selection.”

Rizwan further supported the inclusion of Khushdil Shah and Faheem Ashraf, stating that they are in good form and have earned their spots.

Regarding the playing XI, he explained:

“Selections will be made based on match conditions, but the absence of Saim Ayub has slightly affected the team combination.”

Saim Ayub’s Injury Update:

A PCB spokesperson provided an update on Pakistan’s opener Saim Ayub, who is recovering from a right ankle fracture.

Medical reports, including MRI scans and X-rays, have ruled him out for 10 weeks (since January 3).

He will continue rehabilitation in England, and his participation in Pakistan’s New Zealand tour will depend on his fitness clearance.
