LAHORE: PML-N President Sharif has expressed hopefulness about a possible meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif & Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the near future, suggesting that diplomatic talks between the two neighboring nations could soon resume. The possibility that Nawaz Meet Indian PM is creating significant hope for improved ties.
During an interaction with Indian journalists attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on Thursday, Nawaz shared his thoughts on the predictions of renewed dialogue. CM Punjab Maryam was also present at the meeting.
Indian journalist Smita Sharma, who was part of the discussion, told Dawn that Nawaz Sharif highlighted the need for future talks between India & Pakistan, mainly on pressing global issues such as climate change. He also shared memories of his past visits to India, including his trip to Amritsar, his father’s birthplace.
Maryam Nawaz added her personal reflections, recalling her childhood visit to India & a more recent journey to Kartarpur Sahib. She expressed hope for stronger bilateral engagement in the future.
Ms. Sharma highlighted that the lack of negative developments following the Indian foreign minister’s recent visit to Pakistan has created a positive environment for improved relations, though significant differences over issues like terrorism & Kashmir remain.

In addition, Nawaz Sharif mentioned that India’s cricket team should come to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy, & he stressed the importance of both countries working together to combat climate change. This meeting noticeable his second discussion with Indian journalists in a week, following an previous conversation with veteran journalist Barkha Dutt in Lahore.
